Keep It Simple If simple, healthy habits can keep me from getting sick and feeling miserable, sign me up! For more information, see The Truth Behind Mom’s Cold and Flu Advice: http://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/features/the-truth-behind-moms-cold-and-flu-advice That’s right – we have an author in our midst. Steve Walker, Associate Professor of Library Services at the James C. Kirkpatrick Library, recently published an annotated guide to travel resources. Written for the traveler who needs information beyond what is provided in a general guidebook, Travel Resources: An Annotated Guide (2009, Scarecrow Press, ISBN 978-0-8108-5245-7) introduces readers to a broad variety of travel literature and resources. Organized by topic, each entry in this comprehensive resource begins with material useful for novice travelers; however, the book also provides in-depth information for the seasoned traveler, exploring many new and possibly overlooked travel opportunities. Steve’s travel credentials are substantial. He’s traveled to 61 countries/regions (so far!), from Antarctica to Zambia and Zimbabwe. He often combines his zeal for travel with his interests in nature, history, and the arts by participating in programs run by Earthwatch and Elderhostel. Steve’s book will soon be added to the library’s circulating collection and available for checkout. The library will also soon be hosting an author reception for Steve – watch here for details! The James C. Kirkpatrick library offers tours of the library during the first several weeks of the semester. Tours not only let us show off our building – after a tour you will have a good idea where library services are located, and know who will help when you have a question or problem with your research. Tours are an excellent introduction to the JCKL library! Come join us! Tours meet just inside the west doors (front entrance). The library will conduct tours of its facilities, services, and resources on these dates and times:
![]() Text us at the reference desk! Now you can text message the reference desk during all open library hours. Hit us with your toughest research questions – we can handle it! It’s easy: Just text your question to 265010 and start your first message off with jcklref. We’ll respond with a fresh (separate) text message to start the conversation. The easiest way to remember how to text the library is to add 265010 to the contact list on your phone with “jcklref” in the name field.
