Reference Desk Chat Service

Do you need information fast while online? You can IM the reference desk to help you find information quickly and guide your search strategies to accomplish your research tasks.

Reference staff is using Trillian Basic, a fully featured and stand alone chat client that supports AOL Instant Messenger, MSN messenger, Yahoo Messenger users.

If you have an account with any of these chat services, Just add JCKLReference (or JCKLreference@hotmail.com for MSN users) to your buddy list.

If you already have an account with any of the above chat services, but are at a university computer that does not have a chat software client installed, try Meebo to chat with a librarian.

    Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

What if we’re not available to chat? While you are online, you can access library resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can use Quest (the library catalog) to locate library materials. You can also use library databases (for off campus access you will need your Central ID and password). You can also email your questions (we’ll get back with you as soon as possible) or call us at (660) 543-4154. Of course, we would be happy if you stopped by the Reference Desk in person, too!
