Public & UCM Graduate Patrons Library Use Information

Graduates of the University of Central Missouri and public patrons may apply for checkout privileges at the James C. Kirkpatrick Library. In order to apply for these privileges patrons will need to present a picture ID with proof of address and social security number (driver's license, etc.), must be 16 years or older, and pay a fee as outlined below. All fees are non-refundable and must be paid in advance.

Print material privileges include circulating books, accompanying disks, government documents, curriculum, juvenile, curriculum collections, and ILLiad access for interlibrary loan requests.

Non-Print material privileges include all print material privileges plus DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, videocassettes, multimedia kits, games, etc.

Charge-out privileges DO NOT include

  • placing holds or recalling materials
  • placing requests from the Quest cluster or MOBIUS Inn-reach
  • materials on course reserves, reference items, maps, microform, or periodicals
  • use of the Harmon Computer Commons

A patron file card will be filled out with the patron's name, address, social security number, date of issue, telephone number, email address, and signature. These cards will be kept on file at the Circulation Desk. A patron record will be created in the online circulation system and will be updated annually as materials are charged out.

When checking out materials, all patrons MUST present a picture ID and may be asked to provide their social security number.

Overdue fines, fees, and bills will be levied as they are to university students. Privileges will be blocked when an account accumulates charges of $5.00 or more and all charges must be paid before additional materials can be checked out. When possible, charges will be sent to the Revenue Office for collection. The “Library Theft Law” (Mo. Rev. Stat. Sect. 570.200-570.215) may be applied.

Renewals: Those materials eligible for renewal may be renewed one time through “View Your Library Account” on Quest, telephone (660-543-8276), or email (renewal@libserv.ucmo.edu )

Videos may not be renewed and must be physically returned to the library and should not be mailed.

All materials that are sensitive to extreme heat must be physically returned to the library and should not be mailed.
