A. LAC Issues

1. Minutes from October 14, 2005 approved as distributed.
2. Library materials budget resolution, set up sub-committee – Discussion of resolution and past resolution was discussed.  After discussion Dr. Vazzana and Dr.Robins volunteered to serve on sub committee along with Dr. Tenbus as chair of LAC.  Resolution from sub-committee needs to be complete and presented to LAC in January with final approved resolution to SPRC and copied to the President and Provost.
3. Student room late fees – Mr. Davis discussed some concerns – 2 hour limit with $1.00 per minutes over 2hours.  Dr. Vazzana mentioned study room available in Ward Edwards.  Mollie will discuss this with Library Services Council and review issue of extending check out period for graduate room and reduce late fee.
4. Laptop availability – Mr. Davis discussed graduate students concerns regarding laptop availability.  There seven laptops available for check out to students of ucmo.  Two years ago Library Services requested Student Technology Fee money to purchase laptops for student use, hence the seven laptop computers.  Another graduate student issue is to be able to reserve a laptop in advance.  Library Services is currently looking at revising laptop policy.  Mr. Davis asked what the current check out period was. Interim Dean Dinwiddie is three day period.  Mr. Davis asked when students go to conference three days is not long enough, could it be extended.  Interim Dean Dinwiddie will discuss this with Library Services Council.
5. Extended check out for graduate student – Mr. Davis asked about the check out period for graduate students, apparently there is some confusion with check out period.  If a graduate student has a GA position they have the same check privileges as a faculty member.  Graduate student check out privileges are the same as undergraduate.  The library’s check out period for library materials is the same and/or similar to those in MOBIUS Consortium
6. Scheduling meetings for Spring semester – Friday at 1:00 p.m. will work for those present at meeting.  Will check with those members not present and follow up with a GroupWise message to all members.

B. Dean’s Announcements

1. Announced that Library Services faculty is working on a periodicals duplications/use analysis project.  Library Services faculty is currently reviewing subscription titles with goal of reducing duplication of print and electronic full-text.  Titles are also being examined in light of use.  Library Services are working with departments regarding this project.
2. Shared new orientation/promotional video, was well received by LAC members.
