Library Loses Nancy Littlejohn
In February the library said a sad good-bye to long time faculty member Nancy Littlejohn. Nancy, Jeff, and sons David and Lee have moved to Norman, Oklahoma. Nancy first came to Warrensburg as a college student, receiving a B.A. in history. She earned a Master's degree in Library Science at the University of Missouri and later a Master's degree in history from Central. She returned here as a librarian in August 1978, and over the next 19 years served as Periodicals Librarian, Social Sciences Librarian, Administrative Services Librarian, Law Librarian, and Head of Reference Services, achieving the rank of Associate Professor. At different times in her career she served as bibliographer to the Criminal Justice, History, Political Science and Geography, and Sociology departments.
Nancy was active in the American Library Association, serving as Chair of the Membership Committee, Member at Large on the Executive Committee, and Chair of the Publications Committee of ALA's Law and Political Science Section. She also served on many Missouri Library Association committees over the years.
Nancy advocated the improvement of information services to the university community. She championed programs and practices which helped students understand the research process to locate the information they needed. She headed significant improvement projects designed to raise the level of service to library users. Nancy was also active in the classroom, teaching Legal Research (LIS 2600) to a generation of Central students. We will miss her contributions as Managing Editor of this newsletter, a position which she held since the second issue in Spring 1989.
We would also like to thank Nancy's husband, artist Jeff Littlejohn, who has contributed numerous illustrations to InfoOne. We will miss you all!
