Corporate Finance and Valuation

Edgar: Provides access to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission regulatory company filings, including quarterly reports (10-Q), annual reports (10-K), significant events such as sales of business units (8-K), and shareholder disclosures (13-D).

PRARS: The Public Register's Annual Report Service mails annual company reports, prospectuses and 10K's within 24 hours at no charge, for over 3,600 public companies.

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC): Site resources include SEC rules and regulatory information, news and press releases, litigation information, tools and publications for the individual investor.

Risk Management

Commodity Futures Trading Commission: Federal agency site includes exchange, product and regulatory information for commodity futures, as well as access to market research reports and other publications.

Banking

Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System: Web site of the central bank of the United States. Includes information on U.S. monetary policy, banking structure and regulations, financial research, data and more.

Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (U.S. Dept. of the Treasury): Charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks. Also supervises the federal branches and agencies of foreign banks.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC): Independent federal agency that insures deposits in banks and thrift institutions. Also monitors and addresses risks to deposit insurance funds, such as bank or thrift institution failures.

Federal Housing Finance Board: Independent federal agency that regulates the 12 FHL Banks created in 1932 to improve the supply of funds to local lenders that finance loans for home mortgages.

Office of Thrift Supervision (U.S. Dept. of the Treasury): Federal agency that regulates federally-chartered and state-chartered savings associations, their subsidiaries, and their registered savings and loan holding companies.  

National Credit Union Administration
: Independent federal agency that charters and supervises federal credit unions and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF).

Insurance Services Office (ISO): Major research organization for insurance company risk management and loss prevention. Site provides free access to reports and analyses, while other resources are subscription basis only.

Insure.com: Consumer insurance information service, widely considered one of the best resources for online insurance information.

Real Estate

Freddie Mac: A quasi-governmental organization chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1970 to promote an affordable housing market. Site provides information on mortgage products, debt securities, and real estate education.

Ginnie Mae: A government corporation operated by the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Site provides real estate information from both the consumer and investor perspectives.

U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development: Consumer-oriented federal site with information relating to real estate and housing issues.

International Real Estate Digest (Ired): Commercial meta-site providing over 50,000 real estate-related links of interest to real estate professionals.

NuWireInvestor: Commercial site devoted to investment news and analysis of domestic and international real estate, tax liens, deeds, more.

Organizations

American Banker's Association (ABA) : The largest banking trade association in the country. Represents banks of all sizes, including community, regional and money center banks and holding companies, savings associations, trust companies and savings banks.

American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) : An independent, non-profit association promotes individual investor education in the areas of investment basics, financial planning and retirement, mutual fund evaluation, stock market investing and portfolio management.

National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD): The private-sector regulatory organization for the securities industry. Registers and oversees the activities of brokerage firms and securities representatives. Site provides regulatory and educational information.

National Association of Realtors (NAR): Association boasts over 1 million members worldwide. Engages in research, education and lobbying on behalf of the realty profession.
