Travel Resources: An Annotated Guide by Stephen Walker

Travel Resources: An Annotated Guide by Stephen Walker (2009, Scarecrow Press)

That’s right – we have an author in our midst.

Steve Walker, Associate Professor of Library Services at the James C. Kirkpatrick Library,  recently published an annotated guide to travel resources.  Written for the traveler who needs information beyond what is provided in a general guidebook, Travel Resources: An Annotated Guide (2009, Scarecrow Press, ISBN 978-0-8108-5245-7) introduces readers to a broad variety of travel literature and resources.

Organized by topic, each entry in this comprehensive resource begins with material useful for novice travelers; however, the book also provides in-depth information for the seasoned traveler, exploring many new and possibly overlooked travel opportunities.

Steve’s travel credentials are substantial.  He’s traveled to 61 countries/regions (so far!), from Antarctica to Zambia and Zimbabwe. He often combines his zeal for travel with his interests in nature, history, and the arts by participating in programs run by Earthwatch and Elderhostel.

Steve’s book will soon be added to the library’s circulating collection and available for checkout. The library will also soon be hosting an author reception for Steve – watch here for details!
