The Center for Teaching & Learning offers the following services to full- and part-time faculty:


  • Consulting and design assistance:

  • On assignments for both online and face-to-face classes, especially technology enhanced assignments
  • Designing creative online courses that maintain consistency and adhere to industry accepted Best Practices and Quality Matters
  • Training in selected instructional design tools and apps
  • Internal Reviews of courses

  • Standards Review and consultation on specific components of online classes (i.e. learning objectives, ADA compliance, “content chunking”)
  • Individual voluntary reviews of online course design
  • Assessment of learning objectives and accomplishment measures
  • Production

  • Recording and editing of instructional audio and video content, including use of green screen and lightboard.
  • Design & printing of instructional and research presentation material up to 44" wide on cloth or paper.
  • Best practices in Instructional Design, based on research and modern theories in Quality Assurance,
  • Best practices in online pedagogy and androgogy,
  • Technical training in Blackboard, UCM's Learning Management System (LMS),
  • UCM supported tools, such as Google, Adobe Acrobat and Presenter, and Connect,
  • Using Education Technology in your classroom, such as video, audio, virtual reality, multi-media, and various Web 2.0 tools
  • CTL offers several grant opportunities that support faculty professional development including:
    • Central Technology Grant,
    • Faculty Travel Grant,
    • Instructional Research Grant, 
    • PEC Mini-grant, and 
    • Speaker Series Grant.
