|Library Science Program Expanded To Meet Demand
|To meet the needs of individual students and the public
schools of Missouri, the Department of Library Science and Information
Services has continued the expansion of its programs. Courses were offered
at off campus sites in North Kansas City and St. Joseph and online. In
October the department received approval for a new degree program: Master
in Library Information Technology. The program was designed to provide
students with appropriate knowledge and training to deal with technology
within a library environment. University of Central Missouri is the
only institution in Missouri to offer this program, and beginning in the
spring the department offered courses in it.
|The department also began work on a new undergraduate
degree program. It will meet the new school library certification requirements
approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Plans are to have the Bachelor of Science in Education in Library Science
approved for the 2001-02 academic year.
