The Dean's Corner

Central Missouri's Outstanding Librarians

On October 9, 1997, the Missouri Library Association, at its Annual Conference Awards Banquet awarded the 1997 Outstanding New Librarian Award to Patricia Antrim. Pat joined us in 1995 as instructor of Library Services and Government Documents Librarian. The Awards Committee stated that "Pat has made many significant contributions to the improvement and advancement of library and information services."

Pat has made our state and federal government publications more accessible to students and faculty at Central. She has implemented new procedures for recording items in the online catalog, and has provided users with links to electronic resources available over the Internet. Pat is also pursuing a doctoral degree at Emporia State University.

The Outstanding New Librarian's award has been presented 11 times since its inception in 1982. Pat joins two other library faculty members from Central who have received the award: Les Lynam in 1991 and John Small in 1995. Central is the only institution in the state to have three employees achieve this honor.

As Dean of Library Services, I am proud that we are able to attract such outstanding and talented people as library faculty. I am also grateful to Central for fostering an environment in which talented, highly motivated individuals can excel.
